ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

Gateway Bikeway Project (Kingsford Smith Drive to Nudgee Road)

DKS undertook the Planning and Detailed Design of approximately 6km of bikeway to link between the Gateway Motorway Upgrade at Kingsford-Smith Drive to the South and to the existing bikeway at Nudgee Road (Schulz Canal) to the north, running via the existing Gateway Motorway Corridor.

The upgrade included the planning and detailed design of the new bikeway, which included 2 structures, environmental investigations with TMR, hydraulic studies and geotechnical investigations.

Work included the co-ordination of geotechnical data for pavement design parameters, finalise technical solutions identified in business case, finalise resumption requirements, improve or maximise flood immunity, incorporate the requirements of the Environmental Approvals Report, compliance to Main Roads standards, optimise a balance between construction/maintenance costs to quality, preparation of Contract documentation and technical specifications.

This bikeway link provides a critical north-south connection as part of the SE QLD Principal Cycle network, in particular a section of cycling infrastructure known as the Moreton Bay Cycleway.
